The Amazonian motmot or common motmot (Momotus momota), also called the lion bird (in Venezuela), barranquero or crowned barranquillo (in Colombia), Amazonian watchmaker (in Peru) or burgo (in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay), is a species of coraciform bird belonging to the genus Momotus of the Momotidae family. It is native to South America.

Distribution and habitat
It is widely distributed from the lowlands to the east of the Andes of north central Colombia and west of Venezuela, in the Guiana shield of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana, throughout the Amazon basin of Brazil, east of Ecuador, south and southeast of Colombia, southern Venezuela, eastern Peru and northern Bolivia, south to southwestern Brazil, northern Paraguay, southern Bolivia, and extreme northern Argentina, with a disjoint population on the northeast coast of Brazil.5
